OTI AFRICA REWARDS TOTAL FOR INNOVATION

TOTAL Nigeria Plc has received an award as the best marketing innovator in the downstream petroleum industry.

The award, in recognition of the company's outstanding establishment of the Total Card, was midwived by OTI African downstream petroleum, which recognised excellence and commitment in the downstream petroleum business in Africa.

The event was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on November 3, 2011.

Total is the first and only petroleum marketer to introduce a fuel purchase card, an electronic rechargeable purse designed to mi minimise cash transactions in Nigeria, initially as Top Card but later rebranded in 2006 as Total Card. The company currently services averagely 6,045 card customers nationwide, while dispensing over 3.3 million liters of fuel monthly through the use of Total Card.

During the event, other products range from the Total brand such as the Quartz range of lubricants, insecticides, car-care products to mention a few were also on display at the exhibition stand. Total Nigeria Plc was also present at the PAN head office in Abuja during the unveiling ceremony of its first two Peugeot 508 series brought into the country and presented to dealers. Total Nigeria Plc was on hand to recommend the quartz lubricant range as the most suitable for the 508 Peugeot series.

Total's customers are served through its three territories, which include the Western Northern and Eastern. The company has bulk storage facilities at its Apapa, Ibafon Kano, Kaduna and Bukuru Deports. Total is well established as one of the major suppliers of fuel to the Aviation Industry in Nigeria. Indeed, Total is currently one of the two largest suppliers of JET A1 fuel in Nigeria today, offering excellent fuelling services at Lagos Airports (Domestic and International), Kano, Abuja and Port Harcourt Airports.

In order to maintain and consolidate its unique position in the oil industry, the company has invested in the establishment of three Lubricants Blending Plants at Koko in Delta State, another at Kaduna and Apapa in Lagos State. It has also invested in the bottling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The company has five LPG bottling plants strategically located in different parts of the country with a coastal storage in Apapa.
