INNOSON CHAIRMAN, CHUKWUMA HONOURED WITH OFR

By NBF News

The Chairman of the Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma is among the eminent Nigerians to be bestowed with national awards by President Goodluck Jonathan on November 14.

He is to be honoured with the Officer of The Federal Republic (OFR) in recognition of his enormous contributions towards promoting commerce and industry in Nigeria. This will be his third national recognition in as many years.

Three years ago, precisely on December 22, 2008, Chief Chukwuma was honoured with Officer Of The Order Of Niger (OON) by the Late President, Umaru Musa Yar' Adua, while on September 23, 2010, Ifediaso Nnewi (as he is fondly called) received the National Productivity Order Of Merit (NPOM) from President Goodluck Jonathan, for fulfilling all the necessary requirements in the production of goods and services.

Chief Chukwuma's achievements in the industrial sector are outstanding. His group is into the manufacturing of many viable products, ranging from motorcycle, plastics, motor vehicles, tyres and tubes , among many others. During the official commissioning ceremony of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Plant in Nnewi, Anambra state, on Friday October 15, 2010, President Jonathan had commended the courage exhibited by the industrialist through his unprecedented giant strides in auto industry. On April 6, 2010 at Innoson Mega Plastic Industry in Emene, Enugu, the State Governor, Sullivan Chime had described Chief Chukwuma as industrial enigma who, though not an engineer, 'can conveniently match any engineering professor in view of his business ingenuity and creativity'.

The recent award has not only confirms these eloquent statements, but also justifies the visits of other government officials, corporate bodies and international organizations to Innoson Group. Notable among them was an official delegation from Ghana in 2009, which wooed Chief Chukwuma with enticing incentives, urging him to come and make similar investments in their country.

His business track record is impressive enough to have earned him other distinguished honours from corporate bodies and organizations such as Nigerian Union of Journalists, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) among others.
