Baba Suwe Drama Continues, Court Grants Him Bail

The Judge of Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja today, Justice Yetunde Idowu, has granted Babatunde Omidina, who is popularly known as Baba Suwe, a bail in the sum of 500,000 naira.

The bail, according to the Justice Idowu, would only take effect if after November 4, the alleged suspected narcotic drug is not found in him, and he must be released to his family by the NDLEA.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has seek the court approval on October 21 to hold the popular Yoruba Comic act in its custody for 15 more days to get more eveidence against him. the approval was grated by Justice Okechukwu Okeke and the day is set to expire on November 4, 2011.

Counsel to Baba Suwe, Bamidele Aturu, had filled a human rights enforcement suit against the NDLEA, in which Justice Idowu had ordered the drug agency on October 26 to produce Baba Suwe in court today, November 1, 2011.

He was brought to the court at about 8am in a white Toyota Bus marked FG 61 T02 under a water tight security details. He was dressed in a white lace Buba and Shokoto. while making his way into the court room amidst tight security, his fans were shouting "OYA GBE TI" meaning, "He will never defaecate."

The court room was filled to the brim before the commencement of the hearing, which was to take place by 9am.
