NSC HIKES BONUS

Impressed with the discipline and conduct of Team Nigeria at the ongoing All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique, Sports Minister, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, has announced a morale-boosting bonus for the athletes.

The minister, who has been visiting the athletes and watching their events, said he was impressed with the conduct of the athletes and promised to give $1,500 and $500 to team sports and individual sports respectively each time they triumph over their opponents.

These additions are outside the official bonuses promised for gold, silver and bronze medals and the senate president's bonus promised in Nigeria.

'This is a booster to the athletes. Most of the events are in their prelims and to ensure that they qualify, the minister made the pledges to them,' Chef de Mission, Alhassan Yakmut said.

The athletes welcomed the minister's gesture with rapturous applause.
