THE producer of the new feature film The Zimbabwe That I Know which will be shot in Zimbabwe soon has announced some of the people that have made it into the cast of the film. The film will feature Zimbabwean and Nigerian actors.

The producer and scriptwriter of the film Tawonga Mafundikwa said actors went through rigorous auditions and they were actually surprised with the talent that Zimbabwe has.

The veterans had a run for their money as there were a number of rookies that came up and really held their own during the auditions.
On the veterans side the cast includes people like award-winning film star Evangelista Mwase. Mwase acted alongside, Mafundikwa in the local soapie Small House Saga.

There is also another master of local films, Charles Kapfupi who many know as Makanaka in the country's first soap Studio 263.
The man has acted in other acclaimed local dramas like Pfuma Yenhaka among many others.

There is also the actress Commie Moyo who acted as Stefani in another local soap Estate Blues.
Other actors from Zimbabwe who will feature in the movie include Lazaruus Boora (Gringo), Tatenda Mavetera (Studio 263) and Mafundikwa. There are also new kids on the block.

The Nigerian actors include Ejike Asiegbu, Patience Ozokwor (mai Azuka) Chinedu Ikedieze (Tom and Jerry) and Uche Jombo.
Mafundikwa said the Nigerian actors asked if they could be given the script so that they could look at it and possibly 'tighten it'.
I was talking to Ejike Asiegbu and he said he will probably go through the script this weekend so we are expecting it soon. As soon as we get it we will give the actors the scripts so that could start working on their lines," he said.

Mafundikwa who is popularly known as C.C from the Zimbabwean Small House Saga film said the movie was one which seeks to market Zimbabwe in an entertaining and creative way.

"The Zimbabwe I Know is a movie which seeks to market our beautiful country in an entertaining and creative way. Through a perception management programme, the story of the movie is set mainly at tourist resort areas hence the thrust to market our tourist resort areas. With the 2010 World Cup just around the corner, the movie could not have come at a more opportune time," he said.
