AKINJIDE ASSURES ON CREATION OF IBADAN STATE

Minister of State for FCT, Jumoke Akinjide has promised to work towards the creation of Ibadan State as a member of the Federal Executive Council.

According to her, one of the major priorities of the benefits she hoped to bring to Oyo State as a minister, was the creation of Ibadan State.

She made the pledge last weekend when she paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, in Ibadan, the first to the state after her appointment as minister.

The monarch had hinted of the promise of President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that the creation of Ibadan state became a reality and urged Ms Akinjide to use her influence, not only to remind the president on his pledge but to ensure the dream.

The monarch hailed the minister for calling on him at the palace and assured her of the cooperation of the people of the city, describing her as a worthy daughter and ambassador of Ibadan, who had distinguished herself in the positions she had held in the past.

Akinjide told the monarch that she was calling on him to seek his cooperation for the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

She assured the monarch on the creation of Ibadan State as a priority and promised to use her position as a member of the Federal Executive Council to see to its creation.

Akinjide declared that the creation of Ibadan State was realistic and that nobody should doubt it. 'Ibadan State, when created will be one of the most viable states in the country. The reason, as you know, is because we have the Ibadan metropolis and the rural Ibadan less cities. We also have strong economic potentials in view of the large number of people in Ibadan.
