Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has criticised the win-at-all-cost attitude of some states at the National Sports Festival.

Speaking while receiving the Edo team that came third at the 17th National Sports Festival hosted by Rivers State, Oshiomhole said there was the need to sustain the spirit of sportsmanship which the festival seeks to promote.

He congratulated athletes and their officials on their good showing at the Garden City Games.

Oshiomhole said, 'With your conduct, you actually won the first position because you won the heart of the people. For us, what is important is the spirit of the game. I think it is not right for states to manipulate, procure athletes that are not in their regular employment or try to get judgment not based on merit.'
