AGF ORDERS NHRC SCRIBE TO RESUME DUTY

The Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, SAN,   has declined the resignation of Mr. Roland Ewubare as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC.

Mr.Ewubare in a letter to the Attorney General dated March 11, 2011 had indicated his intention to step down as the Executive Secretary of the NHRC with effect from May 27,  2011.

However, in response to the letter, by the Special Assistant to the Minister, Dr. P. Akper, the Attorney General informed the Executive Secretary that government was yet to accept his resignation and therefore, directed him to continue to serve in his present capacity until further notice.

Ewubare was appointed the Executive Secretary of the NHRC in March, 2009. Under the NHRC Act 1995, the Executive Secretary has a five-year term renewable for another five years. He had served for two years.
