ONI’S AIDE RAISES ALARM OVER THREAT TO HIS LIFE

By Lere Olayinka

A media aide to Chief Segun Oni, former governor of Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka has raised the alarm over alleged plan by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government to assassinate him, saying; “Nigerians should know that if anything happen to me or any member of my family, Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi and his blood-sucking government should be held responsible.”

Olayinka, in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti today said; “phones of some governor's office workers were seized yesterday and my telephone number dialled on them to find out if they were in telephone contact with me.”

Said he; “Immediately the corpse of Ayo Kehinde Faluyi, who was murdered at Kota, Omuo-Ekiti by Fayemi's men was brought to the governor's office, a media aide to Fayemi directed that no picture of the corpse and the protesters should be taken. I got to know about this and posted it on some yahoogroups and facebook.

“Fayemi's men were shocked as to how I got the information. They seized handsets of some of the workers in the governor's office that they suspected might be sympathetic to the Peoples Democratic Party

(PDP) and dialled my number with the phones. Even though none of the workers had my number on their phones, they were still taken to the State Security Service (SSS) office for interrogation.

“After the workers were released and asked to come back to the SSS office today, Fayemi's hatchet men returned to the government house where they held a meeting between 10:00pm and 12 midnight.

“The conclusion of the clandestine meeting was that I and Wale Ojo-Lanre, chief media aide to Chief Oni must be 'taken out of circulation fast before further damage is done to the image of our government.'

“Consequent upon this, Fayemi's Special Assistant on Internal Security, Mr. Deji Adesokan was directed to execute the devilish plot and 'make sure that he leaves no trace.'

“Before now, I had been reliably informed that some aides of the governor were searching the Chief Press Secretary's office, where I had worked before for my photograph, the purpose of which was not disclosed.

“In view of the wanton killings that have been witnessed in Ekiti State since Fayemi became governor and especially the murder of five PDP members in the last 48 hours, it has become imperative for me to alert Nigerians on this devilish plan against me.

“It should be noted that between yesterday and this morning, Ayo Kehinde Faluyi, Michael Ipindola and Ojo Folagbade were murdered at Omuo-Ekiti while PDP organising secretary for Ilogbo ward in Ido-Osi Local government, Toyin Akinlade and Lawrence Adebayo were killed at Ilogbo and Iropora-Ekiti respectively last night.

“Therefore, God forbid that any harm be done myself, wife, children and other family members, Fayemi and his blood thirsty men should be held responsible.”
