Dr. Dawari George: Encomium For A Worthy Son

Dr. Dawari George has urged his people of Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency to vote for Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State in his re-election bid, and him, in the April elections to represent them in the Federal House of Representatives. He made this call on 17thMarch, 2011, at the rally of Governor Amaechi's re-electioneering campaign at Buguma, ASALGA. From far and wide the rally was a fanfare, as people from all walks of life trooped out en masse to support Amaechi and him.

Dr. George was the immediate past Commissioner for Energy & Natural Resources, Rivers State. Thursday, January 6, 2011, the Akuku-Toru and Asari-Toru LGAs delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elected him in the primaries at ASALGA Secretariat to represent the AKULGA/ASALGA Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, from 2011 to 2015, after he wins the April elections.

Since he was elected the Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency hopeful waiting for the macro election in April, the youthful George has been wreathing in joyous mood since his people overwhelmingly supported his ambition, and the PDP flag given him at the PDP rally in Buguma.

Dr. George had long time expressed gratitude to his people and had told his co-contestants, such as Barr. Onimim Jacks, Hon Daddy West, Chief (Barr) Tam Princewill and many others to sheathe their swords (if there is any) that he would individually relate with them on how to move the constituency forward. This will be after the April elections which, no doubt, he is going to win, because of his antecedents.

As the clock for the 2011 elections ticks closer, the coast is becoming clear for George as who will win the peoples' mandate for the Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. This is in obvious demonstration of his people and as the peoples' choice during the rally in his home town recently.

The unprecedented event that took place on December 11, 2010, when political leaders and the masses of Asari-Toru (ASALGA) cutting across youths, women and children marched through the streets of Buguma chanting songs and calling on Dr Dawari George to make himself available for election into the House of Representatives to represent ASALGA/AKULGA Federal Constituency, repeated self on 17th March, 2011.

Dr Dawari George is the change of leadership which they have found. That December 11, was a day the people made known their feelings through drums, placard and trumpet with songs thus: “Dr. Dawari George na our choice,” “w believe wetin Dr Dawari George can do,” “Go and tell them that Dawari na our choice for House of Reps,” and many others.

It is obvious that prior to the open call on George to contest the ASALGA/AKULGA Federal Constituency election, several groups from ASALGA and AKULGA that made up the constituency had met with him, urging him to declare for the seat of ASALGA/AKULGA Constituency. And today, they are not regretting the choice of the person of Dr. George.

Because of Dr. George, it is in the records that this is the first time in the history of the constituency that people of both local government areas are unanimously in their choice of candidate to fill the seat, a feat which seems impossible before now. The AKULGA/ASALGA Federal Constituency, because of George, is shared between the two local government areas. AKULGA has been on the seat for 8 years now. It is now the turn of ASALGA to produce the next, which is Dr Dawari George, as their choice, from ASALGA. The emergence of Dr. George has made it easier for the people because they like the 'young man'.

As Dr. George is the people's choice, the people of the constituency have vowed to protest any maneuver to subvert the peoples' wish in George. And they have said that this will be met with stiff opposition.

Because of Dr. George, the large crowd of the people had made procession to the council secretariat where the council chairman, Hon Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, expressed his support for Dr George. Flag-Amachree had said that there was no doubt about Dr Dawari's suitability for the House of Representatives seat, hinting that Dawari is eminently qualified in terms of education and experience and thanked the people for choosing the right person.

Dr. George's Director, Media and Publicity of the Dig Deep Campaign Organization and Press Secretary to ASALGA, Prince Asi Deteme, had affirmed the statements that the people of ASALGA has demonstrated their civic duty of seeking for the right candidate for the people of ASALGA/AKULGA Constituency in Dawari George.

Dr. Dawari George, a youth leader, philanthropist, man of God, and affably, found himself reading Political Science, instead of Law. He has Master's in Political Science, specializing in Political Economy, which is called Development Studies and he also has his Ph.D. in Political Science, also in Political Economy/Development Studies, all at the UNIPORT. He has also been involved in some courses and seminars, to beef up his knowledge of some other areas that he has been interested in and want knowledge in. Dr. Dawari George came out with the best result in secondary school (Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borokiri, Port Harcourt). Initially at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), he wanted to read Law, but for two years, he was not reaching the cut-off, in spite of the fact that he had all his papers at a sitting in secondary school.
