BENIN - EDO State Governor, Mr  Adams Oshiomhole, has called for sanctions against bankers and stock market operators, who misled Nigerians into investing in stocks that were manipulated.

Speaking at a ceremony to unveil the 2010 Silverbird Man of the Year award, won by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, weekend, Oshiomhole said for the war against corruption to have any meaningful impact, the stick and carrot approach of reward and punishment must be strictly applied in all cases.

According to him, 'if we must celebrate Sanusi for what he has done,  the courage he had displayed,  the trouble he took to expose all the abuses in our banking system and helping us to protect depositors, I will ask, those he exposed, who regulated the system before him, what are we supposed to do with them, because something must be wrong.
