Over 5,000 DPP members in lsoko land led by a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Young Daniel lgbrude yesterday returned to the PDP fold in Delta State.

The former Speaker formally announced his return and that of the other DPP members to the PDP, when Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan paid a reconciliatory visit to his country home at Owhelogbo in lsoko North Local Government Area.

Welcoming the Governor to his residence, Hon. Igbrude acknowledged that “conflicts of interest" arising from the aspirations of members affected the fortunes of the PDP in the area during the re-run elections.

The former speaker assured that now that the leadership of the party has put it's house in order, members have been reconciled and the PDP will not be discarded in the April elections in lsoko land.

He said, “PDP is our child, we will not throw it away, we pray that PDP will continue to grow. l hereby handover lsoko men and women to Gov. Uduaghan and the PDP"

Responding, Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan thanked the former speaker and his family for the reception accorded him adding that family members must learn to reconcile after disagreements within its fold.

The governor expressed delight at the sheathing of the sword by aggrieved party members, noting that with this development the DPP as been consigned to the political dust-bin ahead of the elections.

He assured Deltans of equitable distribution of appointments and projects across the state even as he enjoined them to vote massively for all PDP candidates in the forth coming elections.

Present during the governors visit were some traditional rulers, elected and political appointees from lsoko land as well as the Senator representing Delta South, Senator James Manager.

Governor Uduaghan was earlier at Obiaruku where he flag off the PDP campaign rally at the Obiaruku Grammar School. The governor also commissioned a bridge built across the Ethiope River in the town by the Ukwani Local Government Council.

Meanwhile, Governor Uduaghan has kicked off his gubernatorial campaign with a promise to accelerate infrastructural growth in the State and improve the living standard of the people.

Dr Uduaghan who made the promise while addressing the people of Delta North at Obiaruku said he will construct more roads, tackle erosion problems and make Asaba one of the best State capitals in the country.

He also promised the people of Ukwani Local Government that they will continue to enjoy oil producing status and enjoined them to vote for all PDP candidates in the April elections.

The Governor appealed to them not to waste their votes for other parties but should support PDP Government which has good programmes for them.

Dr Uduaghan who invoked Holy Ghost fire on all those who will deceive the electorate, promised to prudently manage the resources of the State.

His words “I promise to improve the standard of our people. I also promise to prudently manage the resources of the State and accelerate development”

He disclosed that the Asaba International Airport, one of the biggest in the country will soon be functioning. Dismissing criticism over the delay in the construction of the airport, the Governor explained that the normal time frame for the construction of an airport was seven years.

Continuing, he said “there is no delay in the construction of Asaba Airport. It is something that takes up to seven years. The Asaba Airport is just three years so I don't see any delay”

Speaking at the ceremony the Delta North PDP Senatorial candidate Dr Ifeanyi Okowa promised that the party will win convincingly in the 98 wards in the district.

Dr Okowa enjoined the Anioma people to honour the treaty entered with other zones in the State.

He reminded them that the treaty bestows on Delta North specific rights and they should therefore not betray it.

The Director General of Uduaghan campaign organization Chief Paulinus Akpeki urged Delta North people to vote for PDP candidates to enable them enjoy more good motor able roads, improved micro-credit scheme, accessible and affordable health care scheme as well as potable water among others.

Highlight of the campaign rally was the presentation of flag to the party senatorial candidate Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as well as the House of Representatives candidates and the House of Assembly candidates.
