The Truth Shall Prevail Group has raised alarm on the spate of looting, mismanagement and highhandedness in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. In an open letter addressed to the President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan GCFR, and published by TheWillsNigeriaonline media, the group ordered a probe of the activities of the Commission. As an interim measure, the Group recommends the immediate suspension of the Managing Director pending the outcome of any investigation into the allegations.

In a statement signed on behalf of the Group by Comrade John Idumange, the Group alleged that since Mr. Chobuzor Ogwoha assumed office as MD of NDDC, the Commission has been engulfed in one crisis or another. The Group condemned the militarization of the Commission and the undue interference of the MD in the affairs of the State Reps, adding that the MD, by his highhandedness, has made it difficult for the Board to function. He decried a situation whereby the MD takes instructions from the Secretary to the Federal Government to the utter violation of the NDDC Act, and solicited the intervention of the Presidency before the NDDC is swallowed by corruption.

Idumange warned that a band of ruffians have laid siege on the Commission with a view to depriving the ND people of the benefits of developments. This situation is not acceptable adding that, the Commission should freeze, without delay, the payment of all contracts, suspend the award of further contracts, and immediately redeploy Mr. Kaltungu from the Due Process Unit.

Among other demands of the Truth Shall Prevail Group are the public declaration of the financial state of the Commission, non-interference of the MD in the affairs of the State Commissioner and the immediate disbursement and payment of NTAC contracts. This group has the capacity, and is willing to resort to litigation if government fails to address these fundamental issues vitiating the development of the Region, Idumange said!.
