SAN FRANCISCO, March 04, (THEWILL) – Reports say Nigerian Ambassador to Libya, Ambassador Isah Mohammed Aliyu has fled the North African country which analysts say its on the verge of a civil war.

The Ambassador is said to have taken refuge in Malta alongside his family and allegedly abandoned thousands of Nigerians stranded in state capital Tripoli, which is in currently under the firm control of embattled Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gadhafi.

Recall that the Nigerian government had a few days ago evacuated over a thousand Nigerians from Libya but reports say there are more than 10, 000 Nigerians still stranded in Libya.

Some stranded Nigerians at the airport in Tripoli have accused the federal government of neglect and abandonment.

Clashes between protesters and pro-Gadhafi forces has reduced the country’s oil output by more than 30 percent.

Attempts to reach Nigeria’s foreign ministry officials for comments were unsuccessful at press time.
