Vanquished Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar is set to meet with his associates and campaign kitchen cabinet in Abuja on Saturday to take a decision on what step to take next.

Fresh facts also emerged as to how Gen Olusegun Obasanjo, and Senate President, David Mark, prevailed on President Goodluck Jonathan not to respond to attacks in Atiku's speech.

Pointblanknews.com also learnt that some top PDP stalwarts are prevailing on Atiku not to take any legal action but congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan and retain his place in the party.

Said a source” Atiku is an elder in the party, so what they are telling him now is , he should forget about challenging the winner in court. He should just congratulate him and let's move on. “

According to our source, a cross section of the party is unhappy with the content of Atiku's speech at the convention, where he lampooned Jonathan to the chagrin of party faithfuls.

Said a source ' the personal attack on the person of Jonathan was very unnecessary at the Eagle Square. He should not have done that. The attack was too personal.”

Pointblanknews.com learnt that the stakeholders meeting would take a cursory look at the result, and decide what to do next.

It was learnt that the Atiku flank would brainstorm on the Abuja High Court pronouncement on January 10. The court which dismissed the suit filled by three associates of Atiku, held that PDP had not breached its zoning arrangement since it had not presented a candidate to the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC), for the presidential election.

Our source said” the Atiku camp would take a good look at the ruling, and decide wether to go back to court. But some top party members are asking him to forget about the primaries, congratulate the winner and retain his place in the party”

When Pointblanknews.com contacted one of Atiku's top aides, Dr Deolu Akande he said although he could not confirm when the meeting would commence on Saturday, confirmed that Atiku would meet with his associates.

“ He would meet with some associate tomorrow to look at the election result and other issues, it is after the meeting that they would decide on what the next step would be” Dr Akande said.

On the Eagle Square speech our source said “ The President was very upset at the personal attacks by atiku. But at a point Obasanjo approached the President and told him to ignore Atiku. So, in order to give Jonathan time to calm down they had to make the Deputy Chairman make a short speech. David Mark and Obasanjo prevailed on the President to ignore Atiku”
