DAY ROLLING DOLLAR EXPLODED IN EUCHARIA’S FACE

Without doubt, Fatai Rolling Dollar (FRD) enjoys the reputation of being the oldest performing musician in Nigeria. And the octogenarian artiste relishes this reputation in no small measure.

So, it was no surprise that his adrenalin rose to an unprecedented height when popular actress, Eucharia Anunobi sought to spoil his fun at the recent Nigerian Music Award ceremony held in Owerri, Imo State. The other side of the congenial musician was let loose and the Won Kere Si Number crooner exploded like a bomb.

The hall was filled to the brim and many guests could not find seats. It was so bad that bouncers bluntly told some of the guests to vacate their seats for stars who could not secure seats. FRD was among the lucky ones who arrived early enough to secure seats at the venue, while Eucharia and her latest beau were among the lot that came late and, consequently, could not secure seats.

At the sight of the couple, the overzealous protocol officers, who may not have recognized FRD in his ordinary T-shirt and fez cap, came to him and ordered him to vacate his seat for Eucharia and her beau.

Surprisingly, Eucharia and her boyfriend stood behind FRD and waited for him to get up for them! Of course, FRD did not take it lightly. He stood up, all right, but it was not for Eucharia and her newfound love to take his seat. Rather he looked straight into the boucers' eyes and thundered repeatedly, “Do you know who I am? I say do you know who I am?”

Of course, the bouncers needed no counsellor before they beat a retreat. FRD then sat. But he still boiled with anger long after the bouncers as well as Eucharia and her beau had left.

It was obvious that the octogenarian musician was no longer interested in the event after the encounter. He first sat with his back to the stage and eventually made to storm out of the venue. But a fan quickly ran to the MC of the event and explained what happened. There and then, the MC announced the presence of FRD and invited him to the high table after pouring accolades on him.
