Six new VJs Find Fame @ Soundcity

Denrele, one of the most remarkable images to have appeared on television in Nigeria, is about to have more of his ilk grace Nigeria's foremost lifestyle, music and entertainment channel, Soundcity.

Denrele (Edun), S Dot (Rotimi Salu) and Yeancah (Dosunmu) are already established figures on the fun channel Soundcity, and now, they are about to be joined in the exciting television experience by six more none-the-less talented channel ambassadors in order for the channel to keep fulfilling its reputation of adding value to life with the power of music.

It would be recalled that earlier in the year, Soundcity embarked on an intensive and extensive search for additional VJs to help propagate its vision of quality, music-powered entertainment and video jockeying. The channel had called on trendy, talented young men and women craving careers in TV broadcasting for its now famed Soundcity VJ Search to which over five thousand wannabes responded.

The long Search started in January at the Astroturf Grounds in highbrow Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, providing ample opportunities for the participating youths to express themselves before the six-member audition committee.

120 emerging youngsters were subsequently drilled at the next stage of the Search inside the Agip Recital Hall of the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, by the reputable trio of Kelvin Luciano, the debonair Chief Executive of QuestionMark Entertainment; renowned compere Michele Dede; and the super on-air-personality Jacob Akinyemi Johnson of Silverbird TV.

Of this lot, only a final ten of the prospective qualified to stay in the Soundcity VJ House at the Lekki Heights Hotel, where for ten days under live camera, they faced a rigorous induction that is the hallmark of Soundcity Channel Ambassadors.

The six new, well-groomed VJs are to be formally presented to the media, viewers and other members of the public at an exclusive Party in June. All through the month, the whole of the Soundcity station has been agog with preparations to welcome these celebs-in-waiting.
