EFCC Detains Omatseye, Sijuwade Over Fraud
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 05, (THEWILL) - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) earlier today detained Mr. Raymond Temisan Omatseye, a former Director General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), whose appointment was influenced by Chief James Ibori, following allegations of misappropriation of over N1 billion naira of agency funds.
Also detained in an unrelated matter is the Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Engr. Adeseyi Sijuwade, over allegations of award of contracts to himself.
The anti-graft agency is questioning Sijuwade following a petition addressed to the Presidency and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) accusing him of contract scams, THEWILL gathered today.
A source at the EFCC said both men will be charged to court as soon as the commission concludes its investigations.
It is unclear if they were granted administrative bail as at press time.
