ENAHORO’S DEATH IS EXIT OF A MAN OF HISTORICAL DESTINY - ONI
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Olusegun Oni has described the death of late Pa Anthony Enahoro as the exit of a man of historical destiny, who was created specially to make a particular mark in the political growth of Nigeria, saying; “a mighty tree has indeed fallen in Nigeria.”s He said the deceased was a first-class patriot, crusader for better Nigeria and an outstanding statesman of impeccable integrity whose death will be a huge loss to Nigeria as a nation and Africa as a region.
Chief Oni, who reacted to Enahoro's death through his Chief Media Aide, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said “Chief Anthony Enahoro's contributions to the independence of Nigeria and the journalism profession in particular will forever be remembered.”
“I received with shock the news of the death of our most distinguished elder Statesman and I wish to implore the family and Nigerians to take solace in the fact that Papa lived an exemplary and fulfilled life worthy of emulation by all.
“No doubt, Papa was the last of the real fathers of Nigeria and if one puts in perspective the quality of life that he lived, especially his contribution to education in Nigeria, there is every cause for us to celebrate a man with virtues plated in superlatives.
“Papa Enahoro will go down in history as the mover of the first motion for the independence of Nigeria, even seven years before the country became a sovereign nation.
“The irony of life however, is that no matter how long and fulfilled they lived, we do not ever wish to lose our loved ones. We therefore implore the family and Nigerians in general to take solace in the fact that Papa's life was a model, a brand that symbolised excellence, honesty, hard-work and absolute dedication to worthy courses,” Oni said.
