2011: AS GOV AMAECHI OPENS HIS CAMPAIGN OFFICE IN PORT HARCOURT – PPA COUNSELS THAT THE GOVERNOR HAS ALREADY CONCLUDED HIS CAMPAIGNS WITH THE REVOLUTIONARY FIRE HE IGNITED IN RIVERS STATE

By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze

21st December, 2010 Port Harcourt the state capital of Rivers State witnessed an epochal making event of the formal opening of the magnificent Secretariat equipped with the latest arts in furniture and computer gadgets that will serve as the Campaign Headquarters of the Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi as he present himself as a candidate for the 2011 gubernatorial election in Rivers State. The event that witnessed the presence of the best crop of digital politicianS from Rivers State and the officials of the Campaign Team that includes its Director General,Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike the Chief of Staff to the Governor and eight other pronounced politicians from the State - Chief Ibe Eresia-Eke, Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, Alamese Martyns Yellowe, Chief Clifford Oparaodu, Mr. Charles Awortu, Mr. Nnamdi Okere, Mr. Chuma Chienye and Mr. David Iyofor. The Governor who admonished the Campaign Team to handle organised an issue oriented campaign and devoid of abusive attack on opponents and allow God to prevail on most of their works if we are to succeed in the goals and vision of setting up the campaign Team.

Princewill Political Associates (PPA) the political pressure promoting and projecting the ideals and vision of Prince Tonye Princewill the Prince of Niger Delta Politics and the gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Rivers State AC in the 2007 general election and now a frontline chieftain of PDP in Rivers State congratulated the Governor and the Campaign Team for this great move and assured them of the unflinching support of the members of the Group in order to sustain the revolutionary fire ignited by the Governor in the State. The fact remains that it was because for Amaechi to contest that forced our principal, Prince Tonye Princewill to bury his gubernatorial ambition in order to allow him complete and continue with his good deeds in Rivers State that it takes only a living legend like Amaechi to do what he is doing in Rivers State. This is the sacrifice we made in order to move our State forward through Amaechi. Though we expect all other aspirants to toe the path of honour and respect the stand and feeling of the people of Rivers State and emulate the Prince of Niger Delta Politics and join the positive train of Amaechi to take the State to greater heights by conceding victory to the Governor before the election.

To us the Campaign Team may not have much to do considering that the Governor have been adopted as the consensus candidate for the State by different segments of stakeholders including non-indigenes, the Traditional Council of Chiefs, ex-militants, traders, the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Local Government Executive Council Chairmen, the handicapped society in Rivers State, students and of course the Princewill Political Associates.

If passion and zeal to develop the State is a parameter to decide who governs the State then Amaechi should go and rest as by the much he has done for the State he has no rival at the moment in Rivers State as both Dr. Abiye Precious Sekibo and other pretenders that have indicated interest to run the State are all jokers as they have nothing to offer to the State. If within the space of three years, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chubuike Amaechi redefined governance in Nigeria and demonstrated visible leadership to our people he need not campaign any more. For a man to resolve to build a total new city comparable with any modern city in Europe, initiate the construction of a monorail the first of its kind in Africa, save on a monthly basis for the future of our state the sum of N1B without tampering with it the first of a such a move by any government in Nigeria, offer scholarship and free education to our children from primary to secondary levels, construct and equipped 24 model Secondary Schools distributed and sited in all the LGAs of the State, constructed 260 functional Health Centres, constructed 350 model Primary Schools, offer of University scholarship to our people both in Canada, India, Ireland, Singapore and UK, engaged in the construction of 800km of roads across the State, construction of 10 major and 20 minor bridges, land reclamation/shore protection projects at Andoni, Opobo, Buguma, Abalama, Olobie/Owukiri, Oba Ama, Okirika, constructed two major markets, a shopping mall and two fly-over/interchange, arrested the precarious insecurity in the State, built and distributed 60 quality projects to 60 Communities in 60 days a move that can only be watched in a movie but a reality only to be achieved by Amaechi, attract foreign investors, build roads on the Sea to link communities that doesn't know how cars or roads look like, reclaim lands from the seas, If Gov Amaechi could achieve these much within three years then we can only imagine what Rivers State will look like if he is given another opportunity of extra four years.

Prince Tonye Princewill in his good will message at the event reiterated that the Governor has finished his campaign with the people oriented projects initiated by his administration and have little to campaign for as those projects are already campaigning for him. “Your laudable and people oriented projects, programmes and policies are there for all to see. You have no doubt taken Rivers state to her once enviable position among the comity of states. You have brought succour to our people through the provision of world class and affordable health care services, standard and free education, good roads, overeas scholarships for our children, regular power supply, security, boasted investors confidence in the state, the list goes on and on”.
