By CHF-EZE CHUKWUEMEKA

As part of the harmonization process of the IBB, Guasu, Atiku and Saraki Campaign Teams in South-South following the adoption of Atiku Abubakar as the consensus Candidate by the Ciroma led wise men from the North, Prof Sam Oyovbaire from Delta Sate the former South-South Coordinator and Director of Policy & Strategy of the IBB Campaign Organization has been appointed as the new South-South Coordinator for the new unified Atiku Campaign Organization in the Zone. He will be ably supported by three Deputy Zonal Coordinators that include Prince Tonye Princewill who is to overseer Rivers and Bayelsa States; Chief Fred Sowho will be responsible for Edo and Delta States with Dr. Essien Ibok to take charge of Akwa-Ibom and Cross Rivers States. Bishop Boma Lawson was appointed as South-South Zonal Secretary office while Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze as the Zonal Publicity Secretary.

Also appointed was an astute Administrator, a committed grass root mobilizer and a seasoned Leader Dr Mrs. Edith Wele the erstwhile Women Leader of Rivers State AC and defunct Rivers State Atiku Campaign Team to coordinate the Affairs of Rivers State as the State new Coordinator. Members of IBB, Guasu, Saraki Teams in Rivers State were all fused in the five man Committee to assist Dr Mrs. Wele in the onerous task of mobilizing support for Atiku in Rivers State. Hon. Onengiye Mbrelolomari is to serve as the new Publicity Secretary of the Rivers State Team.

In the communiqu issued after the inaugural meeting of the Zone held at the Zonal Secretariat Complex at Aba Road in Port Harcourt on 20th December, 2010 that had all the Zonal Officers with the six State Coordinators of ACO in Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Cross Rivers States in attendance the zone commended and congratulated Atiku Abubakar for his conduct sine his adoption as the consensus candidate by not necessarily the Northern Political Leadership Forum (NPLF) but by the Igbo Political Forum (IPF); South-South Unity Forum (SSUF) and Yoruba Redemption Group (YDG) showing that is he is nationally accepted consensus candidate for our nation and the likely President of Nigeria come 2011.

The Zone also reasoned that with the caliber of people appointed to handle the affairs of the campaign Team in the Zone that the zone rightly belong to Atiku Abubakar if his general acceptance in the zone is anything to go by considering the fact the he is the second employer of labour in Rivers State, also as a son of the zone being a traditional title holder as the Mene Kiisi of the Ogoni Kingdom and most importantly for being the only Presidential aspirant with an elaborate blue-print and ambitious policy on how to tackle the deteriorating state of affairs in the region. These and other facts convinces the new Team to work assiduously by ensuring that no single delegate vote is lost to those without any idea on how to tackle the problems of the region but counting on luck to win an election in an economy like ours.

The Zone also directed that the State Coordinators from the six States in the regions should come out with programs and line of actions for consideration by the next meeting of the Zone scheduled for 24th December, 2010 on how to actualize our goals in the zone and the list of their Senatorial, Local Government and Ward Coordinators as none of the officers from the zone are expected to relent until the goal of the Team is achieved.

The Deputy Zonal Coordinator of the ACO in charge of Rivers and Bayelsa States, Prince Tonye Princewill who donated the Secretariat complex furnished with the best of furniture and computer gadgets housing both the Zonal and Rivers State Secretariat congratulated Prof Sam Oyovbaire for his appointment as the Zonal Coordinator and assured him of his unflinching support and those of other officers of the Zone. He encouraged the Team not be cowed or intimidated by anybody or group as what we are doing is for the general interest of the nation as we most being seen as honourable and faithful people that can be trusted and not blinded by any form of nepotism and tribal proclivity that are retrogressive to the type of nation we want to build. He assured the Team that the present campaign against Atiku will surely come to nothing likewise the efforts to give Atiku the toga of a violent person as the Atiku I know is not the man some misguided persons are trying to create. “To me he is one of the most harmless fellows anybody can be associated with who means well for this nation and democracy general. The fact remains that if the programs and passion of those parading themselves as our presidential candidates is anything to go by then Atiku stands shoulder high and miles away to any of them. I am committed to his mission because he has a clear and genuine vision to actually take this nation out of the woods. Atiku Abubakar 's contributions towards our democratic evolution apart from been legendary are there for anybody to see and we are duty bound to ensuring that Nigerians and Nigeria doesn't miss this golden opportunity for actually realizing its full potentials as a world power during our generation through the presidency of Atiku”. The Prince of Niger Delta Politics later hosted the Team to a sumptuous lunch at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt.
