ABUJA, Dec 14, (THEWILL) - The meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is scheduled today, December 14, 2010 at the National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

This is the party’s 53rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The meeting is expected to deliberate on some crucial issues that are likely to tear the party apart, notably the contentious Electoral Amendment Act and preparations for the coming primaries amongst others.

The PDP primaries is scheduled to begin on January o4, 2011 with the House of Representatives and on January 05, 2011, the party's Senate flagbearers will emerge. On January 09, 2011, the Presidential primaries will hold while the governorship primaries will hold on January 12, 2011.

State governor alongside various members of the party have vehemently opposed the electoral amendment that will have federal legislators become automatic members of NEC of political parties. If the amendment succeeds at the Senate, federal legislators will become a very influential and powerful block in political parties.
