The National Secretary of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Dr Usman Bugaje explained that the recent alteration of some sections of Electoral Act by legislators in National Assembly to enable them become members of National Executive Committee of their parties demonstrated the level of selfish interest they serve.

Dr Bugaje, who disclosed in an interview with the Hausa service of British Broadcasting Corporation, said insistence of the lawmakers to alter the provisions despite public uproar is an undemocratic.

He said for a few group of members to sit and pass the bill into law at the expense of political stability of the country is a clear indication of the extent to which they can go to protect their ulterior motives and abandon the issue of nation-building and development.

The party scribe said the activities of the members could jeopardize the image of the country in the estimation of international community adding that the decision to include the members in the NEC should be left as a preserved right of individual political parties.
