The Minister of Education, Rukaiyatu Ahmad Rufai, on Monday justified Federal Government's choice of  Nasarawa State as one of the states to host a federal university, saying the state has only one federal institution, which is the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa.

The minister, who was in Lafia to inform Governor Doma of the Federal Government's decision, said the newly approved universities would be spread across the six geo-political zones of the country.

The minister asked the state government to provide a site for the establishment of the new university.

Responding, Governor Doma announced the College of Agriculture, Lafia, as the site for the university.

Doma, who commended the Federal Government for considering Nasarawa for a federal university, said the state has yearned for a federal university for a long time. He pledged his administration's commitment to the successful take off of the new university.
