DON'T POLITICIZE BOMB BLAST – OJELABI

By NBF News

A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Cornelius Ojelabi, has called on the Federal Government and other stakeholders not to politicize last October 1 bomb blast in Abuja. He regretted that the incident almost ruined the celebration of Nigeria's 50th Independence anniversary.

Ojelabi expressed disgust that the incident was almost being politicised, stressing that it might have some negative impact on the ongoing investigations and trial. The former chairman of Ojo/Ijanikin Local Government Development Area insisted that the security operatives should be allowed to do a thorough job so that the perpetrators of the dastardly act could be brought to book.

'There is a need for thorough investigations so that Nigerians will know those behind such a wicked act and the law should be allowed to take its course,' he advised. He warned that the incident was a deliberate act to humiliate the entire country, noting that people should view it as a national embarrassment, rather than giving it a tribal colouration.

He equally allayed the fears of the public, assuring that the Federal Government has the capability to provide for adequate security of life and property.

Meanwhile, he re-emphasized his commitment to offering the people of Ojo Federal Constituency the dividends of democracy. 'I have always given a priority to the fulfilment of the promises I made to the people of my constituency. My words remain my bond,' he declared.

He added, 'When I asked you to send me to Abuja the other time, I promised you high quality representation in all ramifications. Today, apart from projecting Ojo Federal Constituency positively at the national level, we have succeeded in attracting Federal presence to our area in the various segments of development.
