Ondo mourns Prof Babatunde Fafunwa

The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has described the death of the foremost Educationist and former Minister of Education, Prof Aliyu Babatunde Fafunwa as yet another demise of one those who laboured for the educational advancement of this nation.

According to the Governor, in a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, by Prof Fafunwa's death, Nigeria has lost an icon who played pivotal roles in laying the foundation of Nigeria's post- independence educational sector.

"We have lost another of the founding fathers of this nation. He was one of the icons of our educational sector. His struggles and his contributions to the advancement of our foundation education at the primary school level were legendary. We are pained that he died as his passage has again reminded us that our icons in this nation; that those who made us what we are today and what we intend to be; are

passing on by the day. Prof Fafunwa would be sorely missed; he was a great educator, teacher and he left his mark and he would be for ever remembered by generation un born," Mimiko stated.

While commiserating with the entire Fafunwa Family especially, the Wife, Doris and children as well as the academic world, Dr Mimiko prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljanah.
