JGSG, Vision 2020 Support Programme To Operate 4,000 Eye Patients

DUTSE, Oct 09, (THEWILL) - Jigawa State Ministry Of Health in collaboration with the Vision 2020 Support Programme has commenced the annual free eye LID surgery to patients with eye infections across the state.


The was made known by the state coordinator of the programme, Malam Aminu U. Abdurrahaman in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ministry, Mati Ali of which a copy was made available to THEWILL in Dutse.


He said, under the programme, over 4, 000 patients were treated with tracomatraciasis disease within eighteen days.


Alhaji Abdurahaman said each local government area has been divided into two designated centers with 22 medical personnel participating in the surgery exercise.


The coordinator also explained further that the state government has released the sum of N1.6 million while Vision 2020 Support Programme donated consumable materials worth N500, 000 towards the success of the exercise.


Alhaji Abdurahaman then called on the people with such infection to report to the designated centers for the free medical eye surgery. The coordinator disclosed that the exercise has commenced in the 54 designated centers across the state and then urged the patients to be operated to be law-abiding throughout the exercise.
