RE-ABDUCTED FEMALE CORP MEMBERS FREED

Four of the five kidnapped female National Youth Service Corps members in Rivers State who were rescued last week but later re-abducted, have been released . The fifth victim was let go hours after they were kidnapped from the Corpers Lodge at Umuogba Community in Omuma Local Government Area on September 16 this year.

Freedom came the way of the re-abducted four corps members on Wednesday morning following renewed raid on suspected hideouts of kidnappers by a joint team of soldiers and policemen from Rivers State.

Announcing their release, Police spokesperson in the state, Dr. Rita Inoma-Abbey (SP) said the notorious kidnappers had detained the re-abducted corps members at a new camp in the same Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State from where they were initially freed.

'Following further efforts of the military and Rivers Police Command, the four members regained their freedom' once again. The lucky corps members were initially freed on September 30, when a joint military and police team stormed several kidnappers' camps in the area. Sensing danger, the kidnappers fled their camps, thereby making way for their many victims including the corps members, to escape.

Unfortunately, the corps members took the same route their fleeing abductors took and they were re-abducted until Wednesday morning when help came again.
