Beverly Hills, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present “Perspectives on Screenwriting,” a roundtable discussion on contemporary screenwriting with Oscar® nominee Susannah Grant, Ehren Kruger and Andrew Marlowe, on Tuesday, November 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Presented as the 2010 Marvin Borowsky Lecture on Screenwriting, the evening will begin with each writer sharing his or her perspective on a particular type of screenplay. Grant (“Erin Brockovich,” “The Soloist”) will discuss translating biography to film, Kruger (“The Ring,” “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”) will discuss writing for screen worlds dominated by digital effects, and Marlowe (“Air Force One,” “Hollow Man”) will focus on the process of writing for action films.

Their roundtable discussion will illuminate the trials and triumphs of modern screenwriting while simultaneously celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Academy's Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, as all three accomplished participants are former Nicholl Fellowship recipients.

The Nicholl Fellowship program is the world's most prestigious screenwriting competition; this year, 6,304 scripts were submitted with entries from all 50 states and 60 countries. The 2010 Fellowship recipients will be selected and announced in late October and honored at a gala dinner in November.

The Marvin Borowsky Lecture on Screenwriting provides an opportunity for established motion picture writers to share their experiences and discuss the challenges and delights of writing for the screen. The lecture is named in memory of the screenwriter, novelist and teacher.
