The 2010 Ghana Movie Awards nomination is now open for entries. Deadline is Friday, October 15, 2010.

Ghana Movie Awards was launched on September 30, 2010 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra. The main event will be held at the Accra International Conference Center on December 25, 2010.

Until October 15, 2010, entries are open for submission of 'good' movies released between October 2009 and September 30, 2010.

Local movie producers and individual owners of eligible movies/films are expected to send in their productions with a copy of printed screen credits to the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) offices in Accra (MUSIGA Hall) and FIPAG offices in Kumasi, in the Cultural Centre premises, formerly Copyright Offices. Our Kumasi contact is the FIPAG Northern Sector President, Mr Twumasi

Within same period, a team of 100 members which represent the various aspects of movie production process, and include actors, directors, writers, producers, technicians and visual effects persons, to name a few, will be invited to form the Screening and Nomination Committee (SNC) of Ghana Movie Awards 2010.

The nomination process commences when each of the 100 members of SNC and the MAG Jury are asked to select their favourite eligible movies from all the entries.

On Friday, October 29, 2010, at a Hotel to be announced soon, the Nominees Release Party will be held; then voting begins.

The final voting process is relatively similar to the nomination process but the Jury and SNC will have 60% while the general public will have 40% of vote composition through SMS.

In all, 32 golden statuettes known as the MAG (reversed acronym for Ghana Movie Awards) will be presented to deserving personalities on Christmas Day.

Only Actors' categories will include movies produced in both English and local languages as follows:

BEST ACTOR IN A LEAD ROLE (ENGLISH)
BEST ACTRESS IN A LEAD ROLE (ENGLISH)
BEST ACTOR IN A LEAD ROLE (LOCAL)
BEST ACTRESS IN A LEAD ROLE (LOCAL)
BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (ENGLISH)
BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (ENGLISH)
BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (LOCAL)
BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (LOCAL)

The overall Best Actor and Best Actress would drive home one each of the new Zotye SUV donated by Feiya Engineering Ghana Ltd.

Ghana Movie Awards 2010 final presentation is dubbed “The Party of the Season” because about one-third of seats available on the night will go to the stars and industry deep players.

“This is something out-of-this-world for the family on Christmas Day”.

Ghana Movie Awards is organized by GP Ltd in collaboration with Image Consortium and supported by all the major stakeholders in the Ghana Film Industry and the Ministry of Information.

Further details including hosts, which international stars are coming and what to expect at the final event will be communicated to you in the coming weeks.
