BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD TO REFORM FOR BENEFIT GIGS

Surviving members of 1960s folk rock band Buffalo Springfield are to reform for two charity concerts next month.

Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay will perform as an acoustic trio on 23 and 24 October at the concerts in Mountain View, northern California.

Proceeds will benefit the Bridge School in Hillsborough, California, which educates children with severe speech and physical impairments.

Young has been holding annual benefits for the school since 1986.

Buffalo Springfield were formed in 1966 and are best known for their hit song For What It's Worth.

The group released three albums before disbanding in 1968.

Young, Stills and Furey are all that remains of the original line-up following the deaths of bassist Bruce Palmer and drummer Dewey Martin in 2004 and 2009 respectively.

Pearl Jam, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Elvis Costello are among the other acts scheduled to appear at the concerts, to be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.
