Halima Abubakar Files Lawsuit Against AGN President Over Suspension

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Nollywood actress, Halimat Abubakar has responded to her suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, with a lawsuit.

Recall that the actress was recently suspended from the Actors Guild of Nigeria through an announcement made by the president, Emeka Rollas, on his social media handle.

Responding to her suspension through her legal representatives, P.D. Pius & Associates, Halimat accused the AGN of refusing to give her the opportunity to defend herself before making the official announcement of her suspension.

In her letter, she stated that the AGN President should remove the suspension announcement from his social media handle with an apology and N30 billion in damages for reputational harm.

“Our client has been battling health issues for years, and despite maintaining a professional relationship, you chose this delicate moment during her recovery to spread a false narrative. This has caused her emotional distress and harmed her reputation in society.”

"Unless these demands are met in 7 days, we are instructed by our client to pursue appropriate legal action.”
