Maleek Berry Narrates Ordeal With Davido As Upcoming Artistes

Popular Nigerian afrobeats singer and producer, Maleek Berry has gone down memory lane in his early days with Afrobeats superstar, Davido.

The singer recounted his days of him and Davido working together as up and coming artistes on the ’90s Baby’ podcast, where he said that though he and Davido worked together, Davido hid his rich identity.

He said that he and Davido worked in the same studio as up and coming artistes then, and Davido never made his rich background known to him, which was a huge shock when he found out.

Explaining further, he narrated how he got connected to Davido through one of Davido's cousins on social media, and Davido blended in perfectly with his lifestyle as a struggling artiste and producer, despite coming from a very wealthy background.

Speaking further, he revealed his shock at visiting Davido's house and described it as a confirmation of wealth.

He said:
“I was there when Davido only have four thousand YouTube views. When he came to London, I would take him to studio in Bermondsey and record him,” he recalled.

“It was one of his cousins that connected us via social media. He wasn’t even known then. We were just two Nigerian guys that loved music that got connected.

“He acted around us like one of those poor kids. But when I pulled up to his dad’s crib, I was surprised. There’s money and there’s money!

“I was just so taken aback because at the time, my mind didn’t used to move like he [Davido] had money. He used to blend in with us. When I saw the tower, I was like, okay, they’re rich.”
