NSOFOR WILL SHINE AT WEST HAM – GRANT

Obinna Nsofor
West Ham manager Avram Grant is confident Obinna Nsofor will be a success at Upton Park, as he gets praise from the fans for signing the former Inter forward.

Nsofor already knows what it's like to score against the best defences in the Premier League. The 23-year-old striker grabbed two goals in the team's pre-season friendly win over Manchester City in Baltimore, and he's already relishing a clash with Chelsea next week.

The signing of the speedy striker is something of a coup for Grant and the Hammers.

While Jose Mourinho was in charge at the San Siro, Obinna was hightly-regarded at the club and considered a star of the future.

But Mourinho's departure has changed things and Grant took full advantage to pluck the player from Italy to bolster his own attacking options.

'Victor Obinna has signed for us and we are very happy,' Grant said.

'He's a very good player for us and can play in many forward positions.

'He is also part of our plans for the next season as we try and develop our players. He will definitely have a wonderful time at the club.'

Pace seems to be the watchword with Grant's teams as Frederic Piquionne, Pablo Barrera, Kieron Dyer and now Nsofor have all been drafted into the squad, and though it has not gleaned any points yet, there have been signs of promise in the policy – especially in the first half against Bolton Wanderers.

Nsofor becomes the sixth new signing by Grant since his arrival in the summer and he will hope that the new influx of players will provide fresh impetus and confidence in his beleaguered side.
