Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official, Dominic Iorfa, has confirmed that Austin Eguavoen will be in charge of the Super Eagles for the team's 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar.

Nigeria is still without a substantive coach as the NFF negotiates terms with Samson Siasia, and Iorfa said that although an agreement had been reached in principle, time was too short for Siasia to take the reins. 'Eguavoen will handle the team against Madagascar,' Iorfa said.

'Siasia was still away when we needed to call up players to prepare for the match and Eguavoen was mandated to do that.'

Siasia will take over immediately after the game on September 4 and prepare the team for the next round of matches. 'I have spoken to Eguavoen already and he is fine with the arrangement,' Iorfa said.'

'After that first match, Siasia will take over the team.'
