ABUJA, August 09, (THEWILL) - Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has finally decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Minister announced his cross carpeting in a brief ceremony in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The state governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda was conspicuously absent form the ceremony and neither was he represented.

Members of the PDP executive committee in the state also boycotted the ceremony. Officials of Alkaleri local government were also absent.

There has been no love lost between the state governor and Senator Mohammed who was his former Special Assistant. Both men parted ways when late President Umaru Yar’Adua was sick and the FCT minister supported the confirmation of then Acting President Jonathan as President.

Senator Mohammed said he decamped to PDP from the All Nigeria Peoples Party ANPP as the PDP offers him a better platform to contribute to the development of his people.

The Minister described the PDP as the largest political party in Africa but said his contesting the gubernatorial election in Bauchi State in 2011 will depend on the people.

"I respect the wishes of my people and I want to pay them back in what ever capacity they want me to serve them even if it’s a councilor position I will serve them," he explained.

He was received by the National Vice Chairman of PDP in the North-East Sub region, Senator Paul Wampana, who represented the National Chairman of the party, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo.
