As part of the activities set aside to mark Nigeria's Golden Jubilee Anniversary is the one being organized by 4956 Ltd. The firm which is a specialist in intellectual property development and marketing stunts will be galvanizing hundreds of thousands of Nigeria to make history with a very unique form of celebration that will positively place the country on a world map.

The idea is to produce a globally-accepted World Largest Mosaic Flag for Nigeria 50th Independence Ceremony amidst a world-class television show ceremony that will promote and add value to Nigeria and Africa as a whole. According to the Managing Director of 4956 Ltd who doubles as the Project Coordinator, Henrie Eduozor “ the concept is our own contribution to the Nigeria project and to equally make a strong statement that Nigerians are innovative and creative, hence, they are capable of coming together to achieve great feats like this one. The general public will be given the opportunity of becoming part of this historic event. Across the 36 states of the federation, selected people will be asked to contribute a yard piece of green or white fabric for the assembling of the mosaic flag, however, all contributors will be given a tagged card that will enable them claim their fabrics/materials at the end of the launch which is expected to have Guinness World Record Adjudicators in attendance”.

The unveiling and assembling of the World Largest Mosaic Flag is expected to tentatively take place on Thursday 23rd, September, 2010 amidst heavy international and local media cum Guinness World Records Adjudicators. Expectedly, it will be an assemblage of the best around the country; hence, some artistes like 2face, Banky W, Asa, MI, Maxim, ECHO, Sledge-da-Hawker etc have been tentatively penciled down to treat the audience to an unforgettable moment.

The idea is to assemble a collection of green and white fabrics (e.g Aso-oke, ankara, cotton, plain green Nigerian print, tarpaulin, gorge, glass, tiles, etc) to create the world largest mosaic flag with an area of 150m by 120m, the equivalent of 1 soccer field. This, 4956 Ltd will enable the country mark this 50th anniversary in style. Hence, they are calling on Volunteers, Corporate Organizations, Government (Federal and state) alike, NGOs and other well meaning Nigerians to be part of this historic feat that is meant to further prop up and launder the image of the nation and equally add value to the country's on-going rebranding process.

The organizers said the choice of Mosaic is apt because it is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. It may be a technique of decorative art, an aspect of interior decoration, of cultural and spiritual significance as in a cathedral. Small pieces, normally roughly cubic, of stone or glass of different colors, known as tesserae, (diminutive tesserae), are used to create pattern or picture.

Volunteers across the country have shown tremendous interest to be part of the idea, many have identified with the idea on facebook and twitter, for further information, you can join the page on Facebook and twitter (World Largest Mosaic Flag-the Nigerian flag) and the group on facebook is (World Largest Mosaic Flag for Nigeria @50). According to the Project spokesperson, Alayande Stephen T. “The key objectives are to celebrate Nigeria's Independence in a very unique way, recreating the consciousness of unison, love, charity and hope among the Nigerian people and to inspire a generation of the Nigerian youths with “Yes We Can” spirit. We are not oblivious of the crisis and the challenges the country had gone through in the last decades and still faced with presently, however, we believe that with our collective effort, we can make the desired difference and get Nigeria back on track” he averred.
