ZONING: IBB, ATIKU, OTHERS DECIDE THIS WEEK

Coalition of prominent politicians in the north under the name, G15 which has been brainstorming to articulate a position for the region in view of the threat to the zoning arrangement in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would again meet in Abuja this week, Daily Sun can authoritatively reveal.

Members of the group are former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida; former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Muhammed Dikko Yusuf, former Finance Minister, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma among others.

A Daily Sun source disclosed that the group would take a final decision on the contentious zoning issue and other issue affecting the polity at the meeting.

The Northern Governors Forum, at its meeting last week in Kaduna had resolved that the controversial power rotation was an internal arrangement of the PDP and should be handled at the party level.

The G15 being chaired by General Babangida and Alhaji Abubakar, according to Daily Sun source would review 'the decision by a majority of northern governors to support the rotation of power arrangement of the PDP and the resolutions of each of the 19 state chapters of the Northern Leaders Forum.'

'The group will also respond collectively to individual overtures they have been getting from the Jonathan campaign groups and take a collective position,' Daily Sun source noted.

He however declined information on the likely venue of the gathering.
