Asake And Fireboy: History Of How The Journey Into YBNL Started
Currently, It's unarguable that the biggest artistes in Nigeria are majorly from the YBNL Nation which was a creation of Olamide Badoo, the king of Nigeria rap artiste. Right from its creation in 2012, the YBNL Record Label has never disappointed Nigerians in its fashion of showcasing brilliant singers who give exceptional musical melodies that meet both local and international standards.
Moreover, a lot of people have been found praising and commending the YBNL boss, Olamide for his good eyes on good and talented raw gems. But one may find onself wondering how the whole signing began, what situation facilitated it and besides what prompted Olamide's decision.
Following a chat with midday show, Asake narrated the phenomen that led to Badoo signing him. Before his encounter with Olamide, he revealed that he have been begging Olamide since 2020 and he declined him. Infact, he went far by reminding the YBNL boss that he has signed many of friends who has already become superstar but he continually rejected his plea until 2022 when he decided to sign him after he had a song with him "omo ope".
He revealed that when Olamide asked him if he would like to join YBNL. He instantly indicated his readiness but he was asked to get a lawyer and think about it. He responded. "I asked him to sign me immediately. I didn’t need a lawyer because I so much loved the family.”
This case was not the same with Fireboy DML. After quitting school in his final year, Fireboy revealed that he relocated to Lagos where he was used as errand boy in the studio even to his friends. He revealed this in an interview with Zeze Millz. But soon, they discovered that he could write songs.
In an interview with Okay Africa, Fireboy Revealead that he encounted Olamide for the first time at a hotel in Lekki. Fortunately for him he started recording that same day.
Nevertheless, at the very moment they met, Olamide was not ready to sign any artiste; but Fireboy's vocals and lyrics caught him and he could not resist signing him.
