Africans are generally very jovial and humourous, and it takes a lot of effort to be able to gather a crowd of people in one room with the sole aim of making them laugh all through the duration of the show.

In Nigeria, Shows like the Nite of a Thousand Laughs created by veteran showbiz entrepreneur; Opa Williams defined the Nigerian comedy space. That era was dominated by the likes of Ali Baba, Okey Bakassi, I Go Die, Basket Mouth, and many others who have also created periodic shows where they gather crowds to sell humour.

Incidentally, Africa’s fastest rising entertainer; Obineche Virginus Chukwudi, popularly known as Mc Klawn has revealed that with good content and unique style just about anyone can crack his or her way in and establish a recognizable brand in the comedy sector of the entertainment industry.

The multi-talented content creator who has made various contents for Grace TV Africa, Galaxy Creative Network, Spot Puzzle and so many other brands too numerous to mention expressed this in a media parley on his upcoming event tagged: “Laughter and Love”.

Describing the event billed for the 13thof February as a vision to create a ‘get-away platform for couples and singles to unwind, the initiator of ‘Komedy Invaders’; an annual comedy show making waves in Nigeria and beyond stated that it is not easy to take a break from a brand that is already in the market to start afresh.

“I see comedy as a vehicle to drive home serious matters, which is the motivation behind Laughter and Love” event. It is not just about about the funfair like the other regular comedy shows, but a vision, more like a seminar, a candle-light dinner. Nigeria is so difficult that couples sometimes sleep on the same bed but not able to communicate.

“Laughter and Love came on its own as I was looking for other means complementary to the other parts of me. I noticed that couples have challenges that only advice cannot solve but seeing what other couples do will go a long way in helping their marital life. So I reasoned that it would be worthwhile to gather couples in a convivial atmosphere to laugh together, not forgetting the singles too. On the event day there will be singles hand-tag. This is because we want singles to meet and connect either for relationship or business”, Klawn explained.

Furthermore, Mc Klawn noted that unlike the current trend where people record videos and publish online to get people to laugh, Nigerian comedy show require a lot more for it be successful, hence, the ‘Laughter and Love’ event specifically designed for a purpose.

“There is nothing as refreshing as listening to a purpose-driven comedy show. It is very relaxing and healthy for the body. ‘Laughter and Love’ will carve itself as a niche in the Entertainment industry. We have lined up talented comedians and other entertainers who would make couples and singles alike laugh and connect with purpose”, he concluded.
