The Basketball Court of the National Stadium witnessed a splendour of musical performance last Tuesday as Faze, the “Na True Crooner”, was on hand to bring the Atlantic Conference of Vmobile Basketball Challenge in Lagos to a glorious end. A league of extraordinary dancers, called Mask and a set of seven of professional Lady Dancers called Tap Dancers also thrilled lovers of basketball to an exciting performance. The event was the closing ceremony of the second leg of the Vmobile Basketball Challenge in Lagos. After the game was lost and won and presentation made to awardees, “This Na True Story

blared from the loudspeakers and the spectators went frenzy. Faze appeared amid the crowd wearing a T-shirt with an inscription “Made In Nigeria” on it. He was immediately joined by two scintillating female dancers, after which two other male dancers came on set when the ladies departed. They were later to come together to supply well choreographed dance steps to Faze's sonorous performance. Among the songs Faze rendered to the admiration of the spectators were “Faze Alone”, Trust In Me”, “Miss U”, and his hit song, “Na True”. As soon as he began rendering “Na True”, the spectators joined him in singing the popular hit song. He added spice to his performance when he joined his dancers in a well choreographed dance steps. This was also appreciated by the spectators as they applauded them. Mask, the league of extraordinary dancers and Tap Dancers also thrilled the spectators with spectacular dance steps. The Tap Dancers had been supplying good dance steps at intervals during the competition. They were also in Kaduna during the Savannah Conference to treat the spectators there to good dance steps. The Vmobile Basketball Challenge was organized to serve as an abridged league before the proper league commences later in the year. The first leg of the competition called Savannah Conference was held in Kaduna a week and a half ago at the of ABU Gymnasium, where Kano Pillars, Plateau Peaks, and Niger Potters have already emerged as finalists. The Atlantic Conference in Lagos has now produced another three finalists – Ebun Comets, Nigeria Customs, and Union Bank. The six teams will converge at the Indoor Sports Hall of National Stadium in Abuja from August 6 – 10, 2005, where an overall winner will be determined. It will be recalled that the GSM giant presented a N35million cheque to rescue the Nigerian Basketball Federation from doldrums. The Federation had not been able to organized its league due to lack of sponsor. With this gesture, NBBF then put together an abridged league called Vmobile Basketball Challenge to enable the teams gear up for the league proper.”
