JONATHAN, PDP CAUCUS MEET TO RATIFY NWODO AS PARTY'S CHAIRMAN

By NBF News

President Goodluck Jonathan was said to have met with the national caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Banquet Hall of the presidential villa last night, to ratify the choice of former national secretary of the party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo as the new national chairman of the party ahead of today's Board of Trustee (BoT) meeting meant to do same.

The meeting, which was mainly an interactive session between the party and the executive, was also scheduled to review the ongoing reconciliation process between the national leadership of the party and members of the PDP Reform Forum, which is pressing for more drastic reforms within the party.

It would be recalled that the Forum led by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari. had last Saturday, officially submitted to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, its proposal for amendment of the party's constitution to engender greater internal democracy.

A source close to the meeting confirmed that the deliberation was on issues affecting the government and the party but noted that there was no agenda planned in advance.

The caucus meeting would be followed today by a meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party, which is expected to toe the line of the caucus in ratifying Dr. Nwodo as the new national chairman of the party.
