AMAA '07 guidelines out

THE Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA has released guidelines for films to be submitted for next year's awards

The seven point guidelines released from the secretariat on Oba Ladejobi Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, states that films which are in more than one part should be submitted as director's cut of between 110 minutes and 120 minutes and must be conclusive. Other guidelines that producers submitting their films must follow include: Films should have full synopsis of the story; characters must be defined. Please indicate who played lead, supporting role among others. Films should contain names of the crew, that is, director of photography, editor, soundman etc; All indigenous language films including Pidgin English should be subtitled in English; music must be original scores. If not, appropriate credit should be given. Preference is for original music compositions; films should indicate date of actual release and screenplay credit/story should be well defined. Entries for AMAA 2007 closes in December 2006 and only films released between May 2006 and December this year will be considered.

The first and second editions of AMAA were hosted by the Bayelsa State Government in Yenagoa. The 2007 edition is also expected to hold there. Among international stars that have graced the awards, dubbed Africa's biggest and best film awards are: Danny Glover, Lou Goussette Jnr. Vivica Fox and Mariam Makeba.
