For highlife star, Orlando Owoh, sex is life. Afflicted with a stroke that left him partially paralysed, the musician has vowed to continue having sex till he drops dead.

A self-confessed beer guzzler and Indian hemp smoker, Orlando said he has stopped drinking and smoking because of his failing health but sex he still enjoys.

Speaking to Blockbuster in Osogbo, Osun State on Monday, Orlando was all praises for Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola without whom he would not have been able to stop drinking and smoking despite his stroke.

“I have since stopped drinking beer and smoking Indian hemp. It was Governor Oyinlola that pleaded and begged me to stop so that the drugs I am using can be effective, “ Orlando said.
He continued: “Mo nsa Igbo gan (I smoke Indian hemp very well). I don't hide it from anybody. But since Governor Oyinlola begged me to stop smoking it, I've stopped. If not, you would have perceived the Indian hemp odour from a mile when coming into this hotel room.”

Orlando had been specially invited by Governor Oyinlola to perform at the Democracy Day celebration, which held at Alekuwodo Area of the State capital on Monday May 29. The concert, which was organized in conjunction with the Admiral Dele Abiodun led PMAN, featured top acts like Pa Fatai Rolling Dollar, General Ayinla Kollington, Daddy Showkey, Saheed Osupa, Wadada, Alariwo of Africa, Sir Shina Peters and many others.

Orlando said: “In the last three years, I have been down with stroke. I can't eat with my right hand. But music is in my blood. Music is my life. Governor Oyinlola had invited musicians to come and celebrate the Democracy day in Osogbo. They came and said the governor would like to see me perform at the event. Since music is my work, I decided to answer the call. When I see the governor, I will prostrate and greet him as a leader. I started my music career in Osogbo. Since the time Oyinlola was a military governor he has been taking care of me. He once bought me a car and musical instruments. And when I had stroke, he bought me an electric bicycle, which I use for exercise. The bicycle has been so useful to me, that's why you can see me standing on my feet now. When I start playing I can stand on my feet for seven hours. For this, I thank God and Governor Oyinlola.”

Talking about sex, Orlando said it is a form of exercise that keeps him going. “Sex? Forget my paralysis, I can't stop having sex. For me, sex is a form of exercise.”

On PMAN
“I used to be the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Musicians (NUM) in Lagos. But when I heard that Dele Abiodun has taken over the leadership of PMAN, I said okay. I won't recognize any other person as the PMAN president except him. I have some reasons for this. Firstly, Dele is my child and secondly, he is a professional musician.

On music
I have no master when it comes to music. The only person I respect as a master is Fatai Rolling Dollar. I didn't have any master. Nobody can say he taught me how to play the guitar, I just started playing it. If I take you to where I started music in Osogbo here, you will marvel. It was a like a dung heap. So, I thank God for what I have achieved with music.”
