Abuja Court Awards Damages In Favour Of Serial Entrepreneur, Larry B In Libel Suit Against Kachikwu

SAN FRANCISCO, January 18, (THEWILL) – An Abuja High Court under the judgment of his Lordship – Hon. Justice A.S Umuar, has awarded Serial Entrepreneur and Businessman Larry Onuegbu akaLarry B the sum of N2, 000, 000. 00 (Two Million Naira) for damages in a libel filed against Dumebi Kachikwu.

The plaintiff Larry B filled a Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim dated 8^th August 2012 against the Defendant Kachikwu seeking the following reliefs:

1. The sum of N1, 000, 000, 000. 00 (One Billion Naira) damages including aggravated damages for defamation.
2. An ORDER for written apology to the Plantiffs to be published prominently in aSunday Thisday Newspaper edition.
3. An ORDER of injunction restraining the Defendant whether by himself, his servants, agents or otherwise howsoever from further publishing or causing to be published the aforesaid or similar words defamatory of the Plaintiffs.

According to court documents seen by THEWILL, Justice Umuar found for the Plaintiff's against the defendant and granted the following orders:

1. A written apology to the Plaintiffs to be published prominently in a SundayThisday Newspaper edition.

2. The sum of N2, 000, 000. 00 (Two Million Naira) only to be paid to the Plaintiffs by the Defendant as damages for inconveniences suffered and loss of business.
3. Injunction restraining the Defendant whether by himself, his servants, agents or otherwise howsoever from further publishing or causing to be published the aforesaid or similar words defamatory of the Plaintiffs.

This case was as a result of controversies surrounding entertainer, Naeto C’s talk of the town wedding back in 2012, and how Kachikwu gifted a N14M Porsche Cayenne he allegedly bought and inspected from Larry B before delivery was made to the wedding venue.

According to reports, Kachikwu failed to make the N14M agreed payment and when Larry B requested for his money, Dumebi allegedly made up paid for malicious stories in the blogs and newspapers about the car being used to avoid paying for it, therefore damaging Larry B’s image as a credible businessman.
