BOB film and TV market hits Abuja

Abuja, the Federal Capital city is set to host the third African Film and Television Programmes Market at the International Conference Centre, from Sunday, March 12, through Friday, March 17, 2006. Speaking to stakeholders at a forum, C.E.O.
BOB TV, Mrs. Amaka Igwe told the gathering that the music addition is one of the new introductions to the third African Film and Television Programmes Market. Expected to participate at the market are music channels, labels, musicians, music promoters, music buyers and users, including TV and radio stations and other stakeholders in the industry.

To this end, BOBTV will be parading a galaxy of over 20 top Nigerian performers including Charley boy, Sammie Okposo, Muma G, Sound Sultan, Stella Monye among other top musicians. Ace comedian Ali Baba will also lead a team of top comedians/MCs, which include Julius Agwu, Barsorge and RMD. According Tee-Mac and Ensemble, Yinka Davies and Friends including the Conquering Lion are scheduled to also perform between the 13th and 16th of March.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam El- Rufai has agreed to host participants at the event. The minister, the organisers stated is throwing his weight behind the organisers of the show to ensure the elevation of BOBTV to international level as the Cannes Film Festival and the NAB Convention in Los Angeles.

Also shedding light on the acronymn, Igwe, explained that BOBTV is an acronym for Best of the Best Television, not a television station. She further explained the functions of the outfit to include promotion and marketing the best of African programmes.

In addition, 100 TV stations, the producer indicated have indicated their interests to be represented at the event. She also revealed that some resource persons have been contracted in the Lagos Business School to organise an investment forum and workshop on skill acquisition in the areas of branding, international funding, documentary film production, screen writing, workshop, children programme and many more.

Notable among them is the Managing Director of ECO Bank Mrs. Funke Oshibodu.
Top movie stars who were present include Chief Eddy Ugbomah (OON), Ejike Asiegbu, President, Actors Guild, Vice President, Movie Producers, Adim Williams, Made Chikwe, Isa Abubakar, Iyen Agbonifo. The forum was compered by Paul Obazele.
