MURDER INVESTIGATION AFTER ATTACK IN BUCKLEY

Two men are being questioned in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old man who died in hospital following an attack in Flintshire.

Peter Jones received a head wound in the incident at 0100 BST on Sunday in Precinct Way in the centre of Buckley.

He was taken to hospital in Chester, where he later died.

North Wales Police said two men in their 20s had been arrested on suspicion of murder. Door-to-door inquiries are under way.

A police spokesperson said: “Following news of the serious assault in Buckley in the early hours of this [Sunday] morning it can be confirmed that the victim of the assault has died in hospital this afternoon.

“He has been named as Peter Williams Jones and he was 24 years old. His family have been informed.

“The two local men arrested in connection with the incident are still being questioned.”

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
