By Give Garba Umar

The Taraba Peoples Assembly, TPA has called on the state governor, Dairus Dickson Ishaku to pay former acting governor Alhaji Garba Umar UTC his political appointees their severance allowances and benefits.

The state government under Governor Ishaku has refused to recognize Alhaji Garba Umar UTC as a deputy governor and subsequently Acting governor of the state.

The group in a statement signed by its coordinator Martins Andekin describes governor Ishaku's refusal to recognize the two years administration of Alhaji Umar as a disservice to history and posterity.

The group said if former Governor Danbaba Suntai and his deputy Sani Abubakar Danlandi were paid their severance allowances, governor Ishaku should shun political, religion and ethnic myopicness to pay Alhaji Garba Umar and his political appointees.

Andekin said also the current administration will be benefiting about N30bn from the Federal Government based on Federal roads completed by Garba Umar administration.

"Within the two years, Alhaji Umar completed various roads projects which includes the Jalingo- Sunkani - Garba Chede Road a 72 kilometre Stretch at N12. 4billion, Marraba - Baisa Road at N7. 2 billion.

The Bali - Sarti - Gembu a 237 kilometre Road embarked upon by Alhaji Umar two years administration is currently above 80 percent completion with N11.9bn paid out of the N17 billion total cost.

The Federal government verification team has certify and commended the contractor for a perfect job, while the State Government had put in a claim of between N28 and N30 Billion for the projects.

The stressed that its morally wrong for Governor Ishaku to be benefiting from a regime he has refused to recognize, honor and punished anyone associated to it.

"Its a fact that Alhaji Garba Umar piloted the affairs of Taraba State for two years under which ever circumstances, he governed and his humble efforts today are bringing good tides to the state.

" There's no vacuum in government, UTC's two years administration in Taraba left legacies of good projects many governor Ishaku today is 're commissioning' as new projects." Andekin noted.
