SAN FRANCISCO, March 14, (THEWILL) – A lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Shehu Sani has alleged that his state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is “thinking of removing President Muhammadu Buhari” from office in 2019.

Making this claim in the March edition of The Interview magazine, Sani advised the Governor, who is also of the APC, to “face his job and stop putting eyes on the presidency”.

According to him, “It would be counter-productive for the Governor to start thinking of evicting Buhari in 2019 to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he told the magazine.

“El-Rufai should do his job and stop putting his eyes on the presidency.”

The lawmaker and the governor have been at serious loggerheads, making the Kaduna state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to suspend Sani from the party at some point. There are reports that the rivalry between the two heightened during the race for their party's ticket for the Kaduna gubernatorial election.

Sani, who was said to be a governorship aspirant then, was purportedly prevailed upon to withdraw from the race on that ground that then Candidate Muhammadu Buhari wanted El-Rufai to be the party's standard bearer for the Kaduna election.

The activist-turned-lawmaker further told the magazine that El-Rufai was ruling like an emperor even as he promised to give the Kaduna Governor war or peace, whichever he chooses.
