Rivers AC’s Stand On Atiku

The State Chairman of the Action Congress, Rivers State Chapter, Hon Suage Badey has broken his long silence on the controversy making the rounds on the Atiku Abubakar's decampment to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the subsequent perceived decampment of other members that are warming up to join Atiku within the Action Congress is disheartening and condemnable. He made this statement while briefing Newsmen at Owerri yesterday. It would be recalled that amongst those on the Atiku train are Chief Okocha and Prince Tonye Pricewill, both gubernatorial aspirants of the Action congress in the 2007 elections from Delta and Rivers States, respectively.

Hon Badey described Atiku's declaration for the PDP as a shift from progressivism to retrogression. Badey lamented that Leaders are meant to have a fixed vision laced with guiding principles that should sustain the vision and regretted that Atiku seems to have no principles and scruples. BADEY said he had at no time advised the leader of the Action Congress, Prince Tonye Princewill in Rivers State to join the PDP; Princewill's seeming indecision can be tolerated as is demanded in any genuine democratic process.

Action Congress, Badey said , is the Party to beat in the coming 2011 elections. The Party having performed creditably in Edo and Lagos states, Badey opined that the positive values inherent in the Action Congress is incontestable. He buttressed that this is anchored on the Action Congress' solid ideology. Action Congress, he further reiterated will bring about the much needed change required to move Nigeria to the next level. He then called on progressive minds to make a bold step and join AC as they are about to commence registration of new members. In his word: “our doors have been thrown open to men and women of positive ideas that will assist in our quest in bringing meaningful development to the good people of Rivers State.
